What is pride month or the pride parade ?

I was recently asked to describe pride month by some people . Here is my answer .

Unfortunately the pride parade is only once a year and often at the end of June or the beginning of July (it differentiates on cities ). This is to mark the end of June or 'Pride month/ LGBTQ+ month '. We have this as the first stonewall (protest for LGBT rights ) was in June in the 1970's as up to then there were no LGBT rights and being gay was still considered a mental illness and caused many deaths . In some parts of the world this is happening still (75/195 countries where it is illegal . 15 of those countries were it's death penalty. Many countries also allow LGBTQ+ legally but marriage is still not a right and other things are deprived) so we have Pride month to bring awareness to this. The pride parade is a protest. In the past it was a protest to gain rights by making LGBTQ+ aware to the public and the world and showing how many people are deprived of rights. It's also a way of being proud in onesself for being queer a kind of 'fuck you i am queer anyway ' kind of way . Now the pride parade is mostly a celebration for how far LGBTQ+ rights have come but also showing awareness of homophobia around the world . June is where for one month , corporate companies put on a rainbow and support the gay community instead of doing it for the rest of the year. However , despite this , the homophobes always try to hit back .
